Introducing EMMA – Our New AI Assistant (from 1 April 2026)

We’re always looking for ways to improve your experience at our practice. From 1 April 2026, we’re introducing EMMA – an AI‑powered phone assistant designed specifically for NHS GP surgeries.

What does this mean for you?

When you call the practice, EMMA will answer immediately.
No engaged tone. No long queues. No waiting on hold.

Just tell EMMA what you need, and she’ll help with:

  • Appointment requests
  • Prescription queries
  • Test result queries
  • Admin requests
  • General information

Why are we introducing EMMA?

We know how stressful it can be trying to get through on the phone, especially when you’re unwell or worried. EMMA helps by:

  • Answering every call straight away
  • Making sure all requests are captured accurately
  • Freeing up our reception team to help patients who need them most

Will I still be able to speak to a person?

Yes – absolutely.
Our reception team is still here, and they remain an important part of our practice.
If you prefer to speak to someone directly, just tell EMMA and she’ll transfer you.

EMMA is here to support our staff, not replace them.

Is it safe?

Yes. EMMA has been developed specifically for NHS primary care and meets strict NHS clinical safety and data security standards.

  • Your information is kept secure
  • Requests are reviewed by our trained staff
  • Anything that needs clinical input is passed directly to the appropriate team

If you have any other questions before EMMA goes live in our Practice on the 1st April 2026, please do not hesitate to speak to our staff members.
